There is a moment at the beginning of a practice when nothing is asked of you. You have found your mat. You have put the rest of the day down, even if only for a little while. This is where we begin.

Arriving can sound like the easiest part. And yet, when life is full, being here without planning what comes next is its own kind of practice. We can start with the simple feeling of our feet against the floor.

“You do not have to become someone else to begin.”

Some days the mind is busy. Some days the body is tired. Neither is a reason to stay away. A practice can meet us as we are, without a requirement to feel calm before we begin.

Perhaps today, arriving is enough. Notice the room around you, the ground beneath you, and the space of one unhurried breath. There is no perfect way to do this.
